A few years ago I was getting these really insane water bills. I mean HIGH! So I decided to dig some wells in my yard to have water for my landscape. I live alone, so I know it had to be from watering the grass. So I hired a company to come out and dig these wells. The foreman and I walked all around my yard and as we were walking he was putting down flags. I asked what the flags were for. He said, "The flags represent good places to dig for water."
Amazing to me are the many ways that God brings to mind the promises that he has for us. Here in lies one of those promises, “at the proper time God will exalt us.” We do not run this race for exaltation. We do not climb the mount of resurrection to be exalted. We do not bear our cross so that we can be elevated. We run this race, climb the mountain and carry our cross in intimacy with our Lord and Savior endeavoring to lbe all that God desires that we become...
Unfortunately, movies starring an all African American cast are on the verge of becoming extinct.  THAT’S RIGHT, EXTINCT! Ask any executive at a Hollywood Studio why, and most of them will tell you one of two things....  - Red Tails is an important story about, not just black history, but American history about the Tuskegee Airmen. It has an all-star African American cast, including Cuba Gooding Jr. and Terrence Howard, which opens this Friday...

It has been a great honor to serve as your Life Transformational Coach these past few months.   To be honest, I was humbled by the many request that have come to me seeking my 30 years of experience as a clergy/pastor. The recent accomplishment to become a Certified Life Coach and Trainer has allowed me to meet even more wonderful people.Several of you have indicated that you want to become a Certified Transformational Life Coach...

Every visionary must go on a journey. Once you receive vision, you must learn to move the vision. Many people lose hope and faith in the journey process. It takes time, effort, favor, providence and grace to successfully make it through the journey of a visionary. Most importantly it requires stamina. But where does the visionary receive their encouragement? The presence of God serves as a comforter and encourager to the visionary while on this journey to victory....
God would have us to know that we should not be struggling just to be struggling. We should no longer go into each day with the mindset this is another day of struggle, stress, and strife. As children of God we should be able to find some joy, some peace, some happiness in the midst of any given situation or circumstance. As children of God we should not be constantly flailing around in the winds of worry or caught up in the sinking sands of sorrow...
While He was on the Earth, Jesus showed the disciples how to pray, teaching them to pray as He prayed, because they had asked Him to do so. His life, including His prayer life, was an example to them and to us. Not only did He show them how to pray but also He taught them what to pray for. The prayers of Jesus, along with those of His disciples, helped the Kingdom of God to actually come about...
I'm ashamed to say this but I thought, 'I don't feel like being hustled today.' Then I got quickly convicted. I felt guilty so I started digging in my pocket for some money. As she got closer I noticed that she had the kindest eyes that I had ever seen. As I was reaching into my pocket she started to speak. I thought, 'Here goes the sales pitch'. She said 'Excuse me sir, I need some shoes. Can you help me?' My eyes filled with water because I remember being out on the streets and having only one...
If done properly and biblically, prayer becomes your launching pad to living a life that is beyond even your wildest desires. That’s what happened to Hannah praying for a son. Her prayer was answered because of her strategy. A strong prayer life will literally launch you into another dimension! In theory, we know this. In practice, most of us struggle to have a consistent, vibrant, and refreshing prayer life. I too have struggled with my prayer life...
Aside from performing with soul greats and gospel groups - including the Gospel Songbirds, the Holy Wonders and the Soul Stirrers – Phelps was the former leader of the Soul Stirrers and the founder of the Clefs of Calvary.“A man with a golden voice ... he will be sorely missed by his family, friends and fans,” remarked Michael Hawkridge, Phelps’ manager. In honor of Phelps, radio stations in various cities will be playing his gospel music..
The Lord always looks at the heart, a person’s thoughts and intentions. The story of David being anointed as King of Israel is a perfect example for us. The Lord spoke to Samuel and told him to invite Jesse and seven of his sons to the sacrifice and He would let him know which one to anoint as King. Samuel looked at Eliab, one of the sons and knew for sure this was the Lord’s choice to be anointed! But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not look at his appearance or at his physical stature...
When Peter walked on the water there were other disciples in the boat. Those other men sitting beside Peter, they had the same potential to walk on the water. Why was Peter the only one that did it? Peter was the only one willing to get out of his comfort zone and try something that he’d never tried before. He was the only one, sort of speak, that released that potential. You have potential in you right now for every opportunity that God will bring across your path. But you gotta be like Peter...
"I get so mad when I see these pimpin' preachers driving Rolls-Royces, Bentleys, flying around in their private jets, and making it seem like prosperity and money is the way of God when 90 percent of your congregation is on Section 8 or can't figure out how they are going to keep their lights on or feed their kids. I'm big on perception, and what would it look like for me to live so lavishly if the people in my church are struggling?"
Developing Christian character is a work of establishing set order in our lives. The worship of God is a spiritual discipline that exhibits the values of living holy. Spending quality time in the presence of God is how David expressed his passion. It was the “one thing” in his day that took precedence in his life, “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord, all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire..
What does it really take to renew the mind? To shift negative thinking to positive? To transform hopeless thoughts into more productive views? To look at every aspect of your life with sincere optimism? The answer to these questions isn't deep. In fact it's rather simple. It all comes down to time and patience with God. You become what you spend the most time with. It's impossible to take in God's word diligently and increasingly over time and not become more like Him.
I get very excited about giving. I mean uncontainable excitement and guess what, I am not even thinking about financial giving. It seems sometimes we get stuck there – believing the only way we can give is with money. This means if we don’t have any money, we may feel that we have nothing to give. However, there are so many other ways to give. Matter of fact, giving should be a part of your lifestyle. It should be something that you do so freely and regularly that...
We go through life and into places searching for something of value, something that will satisfy our desire or deep longing, but instead we find the same ‘old’ things and they aren’t what we’re looking for or what we want. We look in “box” after “box”; situation after situation, person after person, one thing after the other. We know what we think we want or at least have a vision of it—it’s beautiful and valuable and will complete our deepest desire..
Gospel recording artist Marvin Sapp is mourning the loss of his wife and manager, MaLinda Sapp, after she lost her battle with colon cancer on Sept. 9, the Associated Press reported. She was 43. MaLinda Sapp was a psychology professor at Grand Rapids Community College, professional psychologist and administrative pastor at Marvin’s Lighthouse Full Life Center Church in Grand Rapids, Mich. Prior to her death, the church had been praying...
Many people prosper financially. Many people prosper vocationally. Some are fortunate to prosper relationally. Yet, our souls are supposed to prosper as well (3 John 1:2). In this verse, John indicates that his prayer is for us to prosper in all things, just as our soul prospers. He believed that the prosperity of our souls is just as important as other things. And I believe that is the key ingredient to a life of success and not just moments of success.
How many times in life can you recall, some of you recently, wherein a friend, loved one, relative or business associate initiated a conversation with you that you knew was going to take you through multiple levels of emotion to include, mad, angry, irritated, sad, heartbroken, disappointed, you get the picture, all at the same time. In the end, you are left to wonder, "Why did I even go down this road"? The better question is, "why did I get on this ride"?
I'm realizing every day just how many women need hope.I have spoken with numbers of women over the last 7 1/2 years about marriage issues and crises they are facing. So many so that I don't even remember who they all are. And that can get embarrassing when you meet them face to face. I tell you that because a lot of these women are referred to me because they are now "going through" what I "went through". So, I visit with these women....
"We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal." I have a dream that one day on the red hills of Georgia the sons of former slaves and the sons of former slave owners will be able to sit down together at the table of brotherhood. I have a dream that one day even the state of Mississippi, a state sweltering with the heat of injustice, sweltering with the heat of oppression, will be transformed into an oasis of freedom and justice...
No matter how many "goodie-goodie" things you do, they will not make you more or less righteous. No matter how long your checklist of works is, it alone, will not get you into Heaven. Joining the choir won't make you righteous and neither will feeding the hungry or praying three times a day. God expects you to do what is right and appropriate. He does not expect you to be perfect. Just by being His child you are already acceptable in His eyes.
Every moment of the day, each decision you make, every choice and every thought is a chance to produce fragrant fruit. In Paul's letter to the Galatians he passionately gives them counsel on how to live freely and solely motivated by God's Spirit. We often need these types of firm reminders because we are constantly in a struggle, a tug-of-war with The Holy Spirit and our sinful nature.Paul says, look just make it a habit to walk and live in the Holy Spirit...
Where many go wrong in their walk is trying to constantly TELL others about their lives as a Christian. If you are living your life bearing the fruits of the spirit it will be obvious to your fellow man that you are walking in the footsteps of Jesus. No need for a bumper sticker or a t-shirt announcing your status as a believer. Those things are superficial and can be purchased by anyone. Authenticity comes from others seeing you helping your brother or sister in Christ.
The law of appreciation is made up in two parts. The one is to have a sincere and sympathetic understanding of others, and the other is never to expect too much appreciation for oneself, from others. We should remember everything that’s done for us, but quickly forget what we do; for others. In an appreciative mood we become grateful for things that are happening to us, because gratitude leads to plenty. Why do bad things happen to good people?
I'll never forget one Christmas eve, my husband and i were driving separate cars with a boy in each, heading out to our church. Not necessarily decked out in my nice clothes, but definitely a little more jazzed up than my usual Wal-Mart attire, I was ready for an hour full of amazing music and a message to keep me centered on the reason we celebrate this season. Before we even hit the stop sign at Midwest and Waterloo, there was a delay...
First allow me to point blank share with you a secret that the Accuser (that old devil himself) doesn't want any of us to know. No matter what trials, tests, bumps, bruises, batteries or scars we endure, WE ARE NOT damaged goods. We are not MARKED DOWN and we are not ON CLEARANCE.  In fact WE STILL have FULL VALUE and frankly are not for sale. Perspective is such an interesting word.  It is the mental view or the mental picture that one has of themselves, others...

How much of what you do everyday is by your own inclination, or by the power of the Holy Spirit? Everyday we make direction and destination decisions. We make them based on our own knowledge, learning and understanding, or we make them based upon the truth of God's Word. Most people plot and plan themselves into mediocrity. The Holy Spirit will tell the believer, however, when to speak up, when to be quiet, what to say, where to go, when to leave...

“He is doing better and should be going home soon.”  It seemed as if in my parent’s old age, one thing after another was beginning a huge chain effect.  My mom had had a mini stroke two years before that.  My brothers and sisters and my dad would be able to be there for her, although, I did come down to see her.  Too much was going on and I was too far away.  “Okay, God, I am not sure of how much more I can take of this...
Air-conditioned facilities can provide a cool respite from the oppressive heat and humidity. Fayetteville-Cumberland recreation centers are opened during the day at various times and are all air-conditioned. Public libraries are also a good place to go to get away from the high temperatures.  The Cumberland County Department of Social Services (DSS) office, at 1225 Ramsey St. , will open an auxiliary lobby during the summer when the heat index is expected to surpass 100 degrees...

Praise Almighty God!  He has His own deadline.  The big piece is what was done while I was in the circumstance, not the circumstance itself.  What was I doing?  How was I responding?  God was WAITING ON ME to get out of the way and put the pressure on HIM.  It’s amazing what God will use, an ordinary electric bill.  I had taken my focus off my circumstance and focused on what I needed to learn from it.  What was God teaching me?  The knowledge I would get from that would...

But you have fainted not for I see the movement of your footsteps on the pavement as you journey on this road of open doors. Because the enemy is intimidated by your greatness, rocks will be thrown and stumbling blocks placed in your way, but firmly stay the course. People will talk, so let them, for they have no authority over your turn in life.  The God given power in you confirms that now is rightfully your time. Continue to dream and dream big...
My husband and I were at dinner one evening and began to discuss the chapter on Worm Juice. We were discussing how this phase has been for him. Although he's not necessarily in the juice with me, he has to come along for the ride since he said "I DO".  Specifically, we were discussing that in this state, a woman, or even the man going through it, is a. not their most attractive, b. might tend to act stank often, c. might not be their best all the way .........
"Sometimes we question God about our situations and He always reminds us of our true blessings to His standard; not to our perceptive standards."  - Life's daily routine is somewhat fast, Some days are good and some are bad.  Then we cross twenty-four hours of happiness,  And wish it could forever last.
Convenient meant, "Jasmine, close my door."  "Can you get me some water?"  "Will you please throw this away?"  Then it became, "Let's play X-box, Playstation, or Gamecube."   But the inconvenience meant, "Mom, please tell Jasmine to get out of my room."  You see, he had to call me because Jasmine was a little bit of a provoker.  She would wait until he was good and busy.  There was one time when Chris was washing dishes.  Jasmine came up....
Internally bruised, no one knew that I was suffering from abuse.  There wasn't any physical evidence, but the emotional scars would torment me long after the great escape. However, after nearly five years of putting on a smile to fool my friends and family, I finally had the courage to walk away.  I finally heard the voice of my soul loudly screaming, "help!"   Many of us mothers, sisters, aunts, and daughters suffer silently while staring in the face of ......
And not only was it a new season, but everything seemed so very new, in a very strange way.  But this newness was not predicated on the things that could be seen, but on the unseen.  The newness put me in a place that I had never discovered.  There was an area in my life that I had not claimed, uncharted territory, an unknown place, unexplored, and totally unfamiliar to me. It all started the day when my electric bill was due....
Amid all the excitement of moving, I didn’t even stop to think to make plans for my birthday. The day before my birthday, I was so exhausted. My body ached in places I didn’t even know existed that could hurt. That night, I thought, “I’ll just get up in the morning and bake myself a nice chocolate cake,” as that was about all the strength I felt I could muster up. I remember being very tired that night and laying down just to rest my eyes. Jasmine came and said...
Moving day had finally arrived.  This move was a little different from the first move, ten years ago was with three children and pregnant with one on the way.  Now, the one that was on the way, Jasmine was now nine years old and two, Michael and Lori, had already left the nest to begin life on their own.  There was so much excitement in the air on this day.  One month prior to the move, I was able to take a tour of my townhome...
Mom, I need 4 more boxes,” hollered Chris from his bedroom upstairs.  For Chris, being the skeptical one, seeing was definitely believing.  I went upstairs to see if what I was hearing was real.  As I walked up the stairs, I could hear the tearing of the tape from the tape dispenser as he finished sealing up his last available box.  As I entered the room, he looked at me as if I should have had the boxes he needed in my hand.  I smiled and told him where the extra boxes were.
It was around that time that I realized, the time had come to move to the next step, the next season in my life.  I noticed that so far it has been like a thick rope that had somehow formed itself into many small knots that had begun almost 44 years ago, but began unraveling only 20 years ago.  This rope was my lifeline to everything, my protection, my security, everything that I had to hold on to.  The only problem was, the knots had been in the way...
I can never forget the hand of God in my life. God gave me a place to live, to rest, to grow, and to learn.  He placed circumstances around me where tears bought about faith, where fears bought about security.  He gave me beauty for ashes.  My identity in Christ became clearer as He began to teach me who I was in Him.  In that apartment, he taught me that it was not self-esteem but Christ esteem.  He showed me a faith that I don’t think I would have learned any other way.
After 10 years of marriage, I now find myself being a single mom; three kids and seven months pregnant with another child. With such excitement, Lori, age 12, Michael, age 10, and Chris, age 6 jumped out of the minivan, running toward their new apartment.  As I hobbled down the sidewalk, pregnant for the fourth time, following behind the kids, I took a deep breath. As I stood at the door of my new apartment, I said quietly to myself, "Well it is now time to move on." ..
In preparting for this new year, I encouraged you back in December to get out a pad and pen and measure your accomplishments against the assignments God gave you for 2008. Take a moment to reflect. If you haven't already done so, it is not too late. You may need to take back control of your life. For example, Identify your time wasters - any activities or persons - that don't add to your life but subtracts the life out of you...
"Every detail works to your advantage and to God's Glory." 2 Corinthians 4:15. Trials are indispensable to our spiritual growth. In fact, we cannot grow as we should without them, as much as we might wish we could. Trials can make us feel helpless, trials are indispensable to our spiritual growth but we do have control over one vital element of a trial - how we respond to it. It's your test that leads to your testimony!
"So Peter was kept in prison, but the church was earnestly praying to God for him' ... 'Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. "Quick, get up!" he said, and the chains fell off Peter's wrists'. ...  'When this had dawned on him, he went to the house of Mary the mother of John, also called Mark, where many people had gathered and were praying.
Do you know what an oxymoron is? Actually, an oxymoron is a contradiction or a paradox, usually expressed in two words that although said together seem to mean the opposite.  Like "act naturally," "found missing" or "fresh frozen."   My favorite oxymoron is JUMBO SHRIMP. With that in mind, let me suggest to you a phrase that according to the Bible is a spiritual oxymoron: Impatient Christian. Sadly it is a phrase that all too often describes you and me.
I remember reaching out and nobody would help me.  No friend, no family--nobody.  I called and asked one friend of mine for so that I could have food for the week. He told me that he was coming to bring it, but it took him six days. I had all of these hopes and dreams but all I could see were those four walls. I didn't know how I was going to get there, but something in me would keep...
(Sunday May 11, 2008) Today is Mother's Day, and throughout the world, sons, daughters and husbands will do what they should be doing already - honoring their mothers and the mother of their children.  It is estimated that Americans alone will spend nearly billion dollars on flowers, jewelry, gifts, dinners and cards to say "I love you" to our moms. Did you know that this year Mother's Day in the United States is exactly 100 years old?
The subject of the Holy Spirit is one of the most misunderstood and misinterpreted subjects among Christians and non-Christians. Many people are afraid to hear sermons about the Holy Spirit because of incorrect teachings they may have received in the past. The topic of speaking in tongues and the gifts of the Spirit are often shunned as a result. However, the Holy Spirit is real. He desires to work through you so that you can experience...

(Tuesday April 15, 2008) - Have you seen them?  You know, the men who will stand up for what's right and speak up for truth; the men who will follow through on their commitment when they give you their word; the men who care less about going with the crowd if the crowd isn't going in the right direction.  These are the men of integrity that are rarely seen in today's society, but they do still exist.  Where are they?

God's Word says, to a mature man, "to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ."  The majority of your churches are teaching that you're not even worthy, that you're not righteous. You can't go to the throne of God. You can't be like Christ. But the Word says, "to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ; that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine."

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God, [If you do what this verse says, then the next verse will come into play.] And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.  [And the way you keep from being anxious for nothing is by doing what verse 8 says.],....

But be transformed by the renewing of your mind. -Romans 12:2 Your mind--the way you think--has a lot to do with the quality of your life.  Proverbs 23:7 says:  For as he thinks in his heart so is he. What you keep your mind on will determine whether you will be at peace or whether you will be full of anxiety in this troubled world. Philippians 4:6-8 tell us: Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving let your requests....
We have no need to faint and no need to fear. When we are in Christ, we don't gauge our future by what the stock market does. We don't gauge our future by what the news reporters say. We gauge our standing in this life by the word of God which lives and abides forever. So I'm telling you today, don't look at all the things you are reading in the newspaper. Instead look to God. So, know what time it is and don't be troubled. Don't be frightened.

When we all know the truth about racism, we will all be free of it. The only way that the chasm of racism will close is for everyone to understand that we are all one, as God made us. Each segment of society has played and continues to play its part in racism. However, I'm writing about the Church because that is my mission, because the Lord Jesus Christ is at the center of my life, and because the Church has played an important part in perpetuating racism...
You have to have current faith, current Word, and current revelation to deal with the current problem. If you do not, you will wind up trying to catch up. Yet, mentally you will think, "Well, I don't understand. I know this situation. I understand this, I have been taught this..." but you are not current. Operating in the things of the Spirit is, "what have you done lately?" What have you done lately to build yourself up in faith? What are you doing right now?
If Jesus had not given His life, then we would be doomed for eternal destruction. He looked past whether or not we deserved it - because we didn't-- and gave His life in spite of us. Therefore, it is no wonder that we ought to be willing to show some sign before other men that we love the Lord. With all that God has given us, we ought to. let the world know that there is a Name that we are submitted to...
And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to usward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power. Ephesians 1:19 (KJV)  We have power. I'm talking about the strength that progressively increases. I'm talking about that vigor, that dominion, and that manifested power that can be seen. This is all part of the inheritance of the saints.  You inherit His power, to us "...and what is the exceeding greatness of his power who believe...".
Do you know what the will of God is for your life, or are you floundering without any sense of direction or purpose? If the latter answer describes you more than the former, then it's time you found out what it is that He wants you to do. Why? Knowing God's plan for you is essential to achieving your maximum potential in life. There are certain aspects of God's will that apply to everyone. Making Jesus the Lord of your life...
Walking by faith is one of the shortest and yet most powerful sentences a believer can say. As a single woman over the age of 40 and small business owner, this is my life's testimony. The world wants you to believe that there is something wrong with a life like mine because I'm still single and childless. They want you to believe that if you aren't keeping up with the Joneses and that you aren't living a fulfilled life. Pretty hilarious, huh?
God has given you His Word and His Spirit as a defense against the devil's schemes. You've been clothed in the armor of God so "...that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil" (Ephesians 6:11). You have everything needed to defeat the devil whenever he shows up at your door. He will keep showing up because you possess something that he desperately wants-your God-given authority to rule and reign in the earth.
Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven. Matthew 18:18-19 (KJV) There is power in agreement, unity and love...
A certain woman of the wives of the sons of the prophets cried out to Elisha, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD; and the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves." Elisha said to her, "What shall I do for you? Tell me, what do you have in the house?" And she said, "Your maidservant has nothing in the house except...
One of the keys to success is to be able to guard your heart. Now, usually when someone says guard your heart they are talking about keeping yourself from heartbreak. Although that is important (as long as you don’t go overboard... but that’s another conversation) that isn’t what I’m talking about. When we are born into this world we enter with such a pure heart but as we grow older situations, circumstances and people tend to make us change.
For the last 7 days I've been in court in Marshall, Texas. So that's why I couldn't talk to you last week about HOUSE OF PAYNE which, by the way, is number one AGAIN! There is a woman from Dallas who claimed that I took her script and wrote DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN. Isn't that crazy? She was asking the jury to give her 41 million dollars.  I WON THE CASE! There's a moral to this story...
All success begins with establishing deep-seated values. One of the most noticeable characteristics among leaders who have achieved some sense of wholeness is that they know who they are, what they believe, and for what they stand. The poison of moral relativism and situational ethics continues to infect today's global culture. As a result, we have witnessed an alarming deterioration in business and personal ethics.
How many times have we heard about the power of our thoughts, and how we make our thoughts our reality by thinking them into existance. Although we hear this over and over again, many of us do not consciously make an effort to change the way we think. We continue to allow others to influence our minds with their negative thinking and behavior even though we really want to change and we know better. Instead, we just blend in with the masses.

You know a lot of times people do good deeds but it's not out of their heart, it's because they want to be seen; it's because they want to be exalted.  They want people to put them on a pedestal because of what they do and how much they have.  But Jesus is our greatest example of humility; that if we humble ourselves, God Himself will exalt us.  It says, "Therefore God has highly exalted Him..."
This whole world has been mapped out by Satan, and he has certain detachments of demon spirits stationed in different parts of the world to do difference things.  Over every government of the world there is a demon spirit that influences the top man in every nation.  The man does not even know it, but he is being manipulated and influenced by these evil spirits.  To the extent that the man knows about Jesus Christ, he can resist....
dr._price75x75Christmas is one of the most important days among Christians.  This day commemorates and celebrates the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.  Christmas is more than just a holiday.  It is the remembrance of the fact that God so loved the world that He have His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.  Jesus' birthday - Christmas is about God's love.  It is about God's love for you and me
One of my favorite stories in the Bible is of the widow in II Kings 4:1-7. It tells of a woman who is faced with a very common challenge of single mothers today. The father of her children, her husband, has died, left her financially bankrupt and jeopardized the future of her children. Many single moms are disillusioned in this process. Oftentimes going through the motions of survival all awhile wondering how she ended in this place.
In a court of law, the evidence you present to a judge can mean the difference between prison and freedom, or in some cases, life and death. In the kingdom of God, the evidence you present to your heavenly Father will determine whether or not you receive from Him the things you desire. When it comes to proving to God that you are ready to receive all that He has predestined for you, faith is the most compelling evidence you can present to Him.
Do not fret or have any anxiety about anything, but in every circumstance and in everything, by prayer and petition (definite requests), with thanksgiving, continue to make your wants known to God.  Philippians 4:6 says don't be worried or anxious about anything. Be anxious for nothing, but in every-thing, everything. That means in your financial things, in your physical things, in your relational things, in everything in life.
Romans 1:16 says, "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ, for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek."  You receive this power when you receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.  We all have it.  If we are Christians and are born again, then we all have this power. Most Christians don't realize what they have with this power because so many don't...
You and I are often given the opportunity to use the power of our eyewitness testimony to persuade others of God's grace, love and mercy and to encourage our brothers and sisters. We are called to be eyewitnesses to the saving, healing grace of Jesus. Let's be alert for opportunities that the Holy Spirit will give us today to tell our story of His working in our lives!
While pondering which direction to take as it relates to writing about the cross and Christ's resurrection I began to evaluate my life, past and present. I asked the question, "Have I ever been so passionate about something that I was willing to sacrifice my life for it? Have I ever had a great depth of love for someone that I was willing to lay down my life for them without looking for that same measure in return?" Once again, I must parallel this to the marital relationship...
I've been wanting to write to you for some time now. Every time I would try, I never seem to find the right words to say. We pass each other every Sunday. Sometimes even during the middle of the week. But for some reason, I just don't feel like we are as close as we once were. I felt like it was my time to apologize for a few things that may have driven us apart.
Do you want to receive whatever you want from God. I am going to tell you how to get it. You must be a person who loves like Jesus loves, and believes on Him. That is doing His works. He goes on to tell you, the person who walks in love, how you can do greater works than His. He said to ask the Father anything in His name. The name of Jesus is the key that unlocks the door of heaven.

The Blackhistory4ever Quiz Bowl originated in 2001. Through its struggle our mission of the bh4e quiz bowl has been to bring attention to African-American achievements in American history through a fun informative and competitive rewarding event. The canny once named event was "The 28 Days of Black History" Quiz Bowl still bears the concept as we encourage contestants to review the quiz bowl study guide for the 28 days of February.

Everyone has to fight the battle that goes on in the mind.  Our thought life determines where we are in the things of God.  When people meditate on what is wrong or the negative side of a situation, they become blinded by the problem and never see the escape available to them.  Our Heavenly Father has given us a way to bring forth light, and that is through diligent study and meditation of the Word of God.
We are in the "me right now" generation. Nothing worth having in life is gotten instantly. Everything is seed, time, time, and time... You must put time with that seed. Time means uninterrupted trust in the seed. I know this seed will work. I know what God said. Then you understand that time is your friend. God can compress His blessing in you and make a year seem like 100 years.
God wants you to know exactly where you're going in life. He doesn't want you to stumble around, unsure of whether the steps you are taking are the right ones. Instead, He desires that you have crystal-clear spiritual hearing so you can receive specific instructions regarding the path He wants you to take in life. In other words, God wants you to stop and ask Him for directions daily!
Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Timothy 1:6-7 (KJV)  The healing power of God is inside of believers. On the inside of you is the healing that you need on your physical body. Don't be careless about the gift that's in you. He said, neglect not the gift that is in thee.
We need to give credit where credit is due. You may be very blessed. And if you are, know this: it is not you that caused it. You are blessed because God blessed you. That is the opinion you ought to have of yourself. Realize that your blessings did not start and end with you. They started and ended with God. Somebody has been praying for you, and it was their prayers that brought you through.
Roger Simms was hitchhiking home when he was picked up by Mr. Hanover. As they drove towards Chicago, Roger felt God urging him to share his faith. When he overcame his fear and asked the man if he would like to receive Christ, Mr. Hanover stopped, bowed his head on the steering wheel, began to cry, and accepted Christ. "This is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me," he said. Shortly afterwards he dropped Roger at his house...

The best leaders are always those who have humility of mind. They are very strong-minded, yet, on the other hand, they know how to submit their minds to new ideas that did not come from them. They know how to bow their minds so that other information can come from other people, giving them the credit for it. One reason why some people do not serve in the church is that they are high minded..

While it is true that every human being is born into sin because of Adam's treason in the Garden of Eden, once a person becomes born again, sin doesn't have to rule his or her life. Christians have a choice to either obey the Word of God or yield to the temptations of the enemy. By accepting Jesus as Lord and personal Savior, we are translated out of the kingdom of darkness and into God's kingdom. To remain in bondage to sin would be like sitting in a jail cell....
Here are five elements that the Bible says are essential to having God both hear and answer our prayers. If we do these things we can be sure that our prayers will be answered. That is not to say that we can use these principles as spiritual "magic charms" to make God accomplish our will on earth. The whole point is to accomplish His will on earth as it is in heaven.
Prayer is probably one of the most misunderstood and potentially frustrating topics because many people don't know how to get results when they pray. The simplicity of prayer has been lost in many people's lives and turned into a religious tradition that has a form but no real power. Prayer is not meant to be a burden or to be used as a badge of holiness. Instead, it is a gift from God that, when used properly, should yield great victory in your life.
Do you need God to make a way out of no way? The swiftness and surety of your deliverance starts with how you respond to hard times and difficult situations. Hear me when I say that it is not just enough to thank God and honor Him only when you've received a blessing. God wants you to show the extent of your faithfulness and trust in Him even in the midst of going through a challenge.

One day all the employees reached the office and they saw a big NOTICE on the door which read "Yesterday the person who has been hindering your growth in this company has passed away. We invite you to join the funeral in the room that has been  prepared in the gym". In the beginning, they all felt sad for the death of one of their colleagues. But after a while they started getting curious to know who was that man who hindered the growth...
The Bible says 130 years after Adam first sinned, he was still fathering children "in his own likeness" (Ge 5:3 NIV). And as Adam's descendants we have all been born with the nature of fallen man. Sometimes people say, "He's just like his old man." Or we say, "My dad was an angry man, now I've got his temper!" "My dad couldn't stay with my mom, now I'm going through a divorce." History repeats itself over and over through our fallen nature.

Substance abuse has touched everyone's life in one way or another and, in the General Assembly, we have tried to find ways to improve treatment for people who cannot afford private recovery services. Over the past two sessions, we have made changes in these programs that allow more efficient use of state money and set up a study group that continues to examine issues surrounding substance abuse services in North Carolina. We have also expanded...

God works in mysterious ways, so it is said.  At a time when our nation faces many difficult days, it is truly amazing that we celebrate MLK Day this Monday and 24 hours later the first African American President will be Inaugurated into the highest office in the land.  Truly amazing days.  For childen of the 1960's, many in my generation were the children that Martin Luther King, Jr. was speaking about.  "One day white children and black children and...
A Hater is someone who is jealous and envious and spends all their time trying to make you look small so they can look tall. They are very negative people to say the least. When you make your mark,  you will always attract some haters. That's why you have to be careful with whom you share your blessings and your dreams. Some folk can't handle seeing you blessed. The problem I have is they see my glory, but they don't know my story..
"So when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonas, lovest thou me more than these? He saith unto him, Yea, Lord; thou knowest that I love thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs."  (John 21:15 KJV)  After Jesus continue to question Peter two more times, Peter was grieved and hurt that Jesus had to ask him if he loved Him.  Peter was probably still dealing with condemnation and guilt after having denied Jesus.

Have you ever heard someone say, "Well, what do you expect?  I am only flesh and blood.  What do you want me to do, be an angel or something?  I'm just flesh and blood." You are not flesh and blood.  You are a spirit!  You have a flesh and blood body, but you are not flesh and blood.  Flesh and blood is where you live.  You are a spirit made in the image of God. The great Apostle Paul said...

People are getting up every morning going to the job that they hate, they work for money that they're worth more than, they work for people they don't like, they do things they don't want to do, they go home to a house that's full of friction, they watch television programs that depress them, they go to a bed and sleep back to back with their spouse without speaking to them and wake up the next morning to do it all over again; And they do that for 30 or 40 years...
Romans 4:20 - He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God; (KJV) God stayed with Abraham until he became strong in faith. Notice that being strong in faith has something that goes with it...to be strong in faith is to give God glory. No one can give God as much honor as faith does. Faith gives glory to God.
Clothe yourselves therefore, as God's own chosen ones... by putting on... patience which is tireless and long-suffering, and has the power to endure whatever comes, with good temper. Colossians 8:12 (AMP) Would you say that you need the power of God to endure whatever comes with a good temper? I certainly do. Well, God has given us all that is necessary to fulfill His will in life.
Christians are in constant warfare with a tricky enemy who refuses to give up.  It is a spiritual battle that gets hotter as time goes on.  When we are living for God, we become target practice for the devil.  It doesn't mean that we are necessarily doing anything wrong when things come against us; it is just the way Satan plays his game. If you are doing something you have no business doing and you know it, you need to stop whatever it is, because you are...

"One day a friend of mine got a call from The White House asking him to consult with the President. He said no, because it was a day he'd promised to spend with his granddaughter. The nation survived...the President didn't miss him, and his granddaughter had precious time with her Pop-Pop." Somebody said that the main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing! "Teach us to realize the brevity of life, so that we may grow in wisdom" (Ps 90:12 NLT).
How bad do you want to succeed in life? Most people want to experience success in their endeavors but they are really unsure of how to achieve the success they desire. According to the world's system, success is achieved by how hard you work, whether you have the right connections and whether or not you are willing to compromise at times. But God's formula for success is different...
Faith is action, not just words. And faith in God works miracles! The Bible says, "Faith without work is dead..." (James 2:26) Faith sets the wheels in motion and gets the job done! Although our believing will get results, we must have patience, faith and perseverance. "Submit thy way unto the Lord, trust also in Him and He shall bring it to pass". (Psalms 37:5) The term faith is sometimes used as if it means "belief" or "hope." But faith is really much more ...
Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the Apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; Hebrews 3:1 (KJV) God's word is what you need to cause healing to manifest in your body. That is why you must keep God's word in your mouth. Words that will stir up the gift that's in you. Jesus is the High Priest of our words.
And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.  Matthew 4:23  (KJV)  You can draw the anointing of Jesus into your life to the point that it works all the time.  God's intentions are clearly written in the word of God. God sent Jesus, The Son of Love, to heal all.

If you're anything like me, you probably feel overwhelmed by all the changes you'd like to see in your life especially around the New Year, when change is the "thing" to do. I already know what I need to improve--my fitness level, availability to friends, amount of quality time with God. But sometimes, the more I resolve to change, the more I feel as though I've failed when my "to do" list of goals ends up a crumpled piece of paper in a dark corner of my desk....

You or I might strain to reach underneath an engine or struggle with pliers to put together some little piece of furniture.  But for a master mechanic or trained craftsman, it seems that no problem is too great.  The mechanic whips out a long instrument that has a ratchet on the end, slithers it up through the crowded engine compartment, and has a blot out in seconds. Have you ever watched a talented mechanic or craftsman work?  He always has the right tool.
Your breakthrough is in your mouth!  There are some areas in all of our lives that have been dry for a long time.  You might be reading this and your marriage is dry.  Perhaps your relationships are dry.  Your financial situation is dry.  Your health is bad.  Your mind is troubled.  Your emotions are shattered. Or your nerves are on edge.  But God is saying if you are going to be delivered, if change is going to come, if revival is going to come, it's in your mouth.
Once you have an image in your mind of something you want to do or become, nothing can stop that image from coming to pass. Whatever you meditate on will become the blueprint for your reality. Too often, though, Christians suffer from "stinking thinking." They give the devil control of their minds by meditating on thoughts that do not line up with the Word of God. Then they reap the results of the curse because their carnal mindset produces the fruit of the flesh...
"O Lord, who may dwell on Your holy hill?  He who walks with Integrity."  Psalm 15:1-2 NAS  You wouldn't give your 5-year-old a 12-gauge shotgun or a big Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Shotguns and motorcycles are great - but they're for adults. You need maturity to handle them. Giving such gifts to your child would endanger them, and everybody else around them. The gifts just don't fit the person.
Integrity is valuable and will work to your benefit, as long as you develop it through positive character traits and implement it in your life.  However, I believe the most important factor of integrity and the key to your ultimate success is God and His Word.  When you factor God into the integrity equation, you not only will pay less and come out ahead, but you have a guarantee to come out on top of your situation.

Grace reminds us of an ambulance coming to treat someone with a medical emergency. The paramedics offer assistance to the victim on the spot. They dispense immediate grace to the most serious symptoms. Then they slide them into the ambulance, which is equipped with more grace - more medical facilities - to deal with the problem. And as the paramedics are administering more grace to the patient, the ambulance races to the hospital where even more...

But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you:  and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:8 (KJV)  Jesus shares with us that we receive power when the Holy Ghost comes on us.  Acts 1:8 puts the emphasis on the power that comes on us to be witnesses first in Jerusalem and then Judea and to the uttermost parts of the earth.
Everyone wants to be successful. The question is how do you measure success? I like Winston Churchill's definition better: Success is going from one failure to another without losing your enthusiasm. A Gallup Poll conducted on 1,500 prominent people revealed five common traits of successful people- common sense, knowing one's field, self-reliance, general intelligence, and the ability to get things done. Is that all there is to success? Jesus responds...
So, my oldest daughter is getting older and with that she wants to make more decisions on her own. I have to realize that she is growing up as much as I don't want to! On one hand it's great because we can do more and talk about more. But on the other hand, you realize how fast time goes by and one day she will be all grown up and on her own. Time goes by too fast. There will come a day when I will not be there and she will have to make decisions...
Lady G and Minister Anthony of Sunday Morning Inspirations on KISS 107.7 FM, in conjunction with 2nd Chance Ministries, are preparing for their 2nd annual bus trip to Berlin, Maryland with a group of students from Cumberland County Schools on October 4th & 5th. 2nd Chance Ministries helps people, who have experienced setbacks, reassess their direction in life...
One of the greatest needs in our lives is the need for restoration. To restore means, "to bring something back into existence or effect again; to bring back to a former or original condition; to put back in a former place or position; to reinstate; to return." We talk about restoring relationships, renovating antique furniture, reinstating a political leader and returning something that was stolen or lost. These all demonstrate the idea of restoration.
As I reflect on the events of this past year in my personal life, I know it was my faith in God and the ability to Praise Him, that carried me through. Read Psalm 148. It is filled with Praises and reasons to praise God. It is a privilege as a Christian to praise God.  We read all about David throughout the Psalms and we know he was a Praiser, and we need to be like David in our trials and in our good times. When we find ourselves faced with the stresses...

How many of you feel like you are stuck in the dark when it comes to achieving your goals?   Are you in a relationship that is mentally and physically draining you?  Are your children driving you crazy?  Are you working at a job that you just can't stand?  Do you wake up and wonder how did you get to this point in your life? If so, I know exactly how you feel. Starting as a little girl, I had a dream of becoming a professional speaker.

(Thursday April 10, 2008) - Praise and worship music is a powerful force in today's Christian world.  The praise and worship format has become the standard practice in our local churches, and the music of praise and worship is beginning to dominate the Christian and Gospel music charts. But has the true purpose of praise and worship been lost?

When you were born, you didn't come with an owner's manual; these guidelines make life work better. If you don't learn easy lessons, they get harder. External problems are a precise reflection of your internal state. When you clear inner obstructions, your outside world changes. Pain is how the universe gets your attention. 1.There are no mistakes, only lessons. Growth is a process of experimentation. "Failures" are as much a part of the process as "success."
God said before you were conceived in your mother's womb and before you were born to even make plans, I already had an original intent for your life. I had a reason for your existence. Purpose is more important than anything else in your life because purpose gives you the reason and the meaning for breathing everyday. Purpose is the reason for your birth and the meaning for your existence. God doesn't do anything without a reason.
What happened to Abraham and Sarah is God changed their bodies so that they could produce the promised child, Isaac. They did not understand it, nor knew how it would happen. They even tried to help God out at one point. When they stopped trying to make it happen, God brought it to pass. God has made you a promise of abundant life. Don't try to figure it out. Take Him at His word.
Understand this: things will not just "settle down." If you wait to get around to what really matters, you'll never do what God made you to do! Your soul will wither. You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Furthermore, no one else can do this for you - not your boss, your pastor, your spouse, your kids, or your best friend. You must do this for yourself.
Not long ago, I went to my doctor's office for my annual physical, and they put me up on a treadmill for a stress test.  When they first started the machine, I was walking at a nice, easy pace and I felt pretty good about my performance.  In fact, I was thinking, "This is easy!  No problem here!" But pretty soon, I heard that small rumbling sound of the treadmill incline beginning to rise.  And then I heard it again.  And again.
It is much easier to start something than to finish it.  There is an old adage that says, 'it is not how you start but how you finish.' The great philosopher Manuel Diotte said, "Wining isn't always finishing first. Sometimes wining is just finishing." Success in dealing with the secular and the sacred is not contingent on the start of a thing but rather on the end of a thing.  There is something that beckons us to greatness that God does not want men or women to just start...
The Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) is striving for a more timely and reliable fleet. One stride towards that takes place next week when FAST will unveil five new buses and seven vans for operation. In light of that, the City is having the FAST Bus Blast Monday, July 14 at 2 p.m. in the parking lot behind City Hall. Two buses and one van will be on display. Buses and vans go into service Tuesday, July 15.
Everywhere you see faith expressed in the Bible you see action. In fact, faith is an action. It's acting on what you believe. Many people confuse belief or believing with faith. Believing is a starting point, but if you stop there, you'll wind up with nothing. I often use the example of a starving man being placed where food is and being asked if he believes that if he eats the food he will live. The man replies: "Do you think I am some kind of fool?
Parenting is one of the most rewarding - and most challenging - jobs out there. As an encouragement to fathers, I want to share with you the eight ways to become a better father. Even if you're not a father yet ...or your kids have grown up and moved away ...or you're a single mom raising children without a father, there's something in this list for you. But don't read these points and tuck them away for another day. Start acting on them right now -
Christians need to learn how to be positive. By this I mean positive in line with God's plan and purpose. I am not talking about the power of positive thinking just as some kind of esoteric regimen. That is good, but it is not good enough for us to achieve what God would have us to achieve. Thinking positively is always better than thinking negatively, and it will put you in a better frame of mind to accept what is going on around you.
Once we begin to experience success in the workplace, we naturally ask, "Do I need to share my success with others?" Esther was presented with the opportunity of a lifetime - to become the queen. Many other ladies were considered but Esther found favor in the king's eyes. Most people desire success at some stage in their life. However, many of us fail to realize that success also comes with responsibility.
Give attention to the Holy Spirit. He is the love of God. Start with the Holy Ghost before you turn on the Today Show.  Spend time in prayer in the morning. Even if it is just a few minutes, spend time in prayer before God, before you leave the house in the morning.  Meditate the Scriptures before you leave. Begin to think upon it, particularly if you are in a situation when something stormy is happening between you and someone.
Sen. Barack Obama has called for a national discussion on race in America, and one of the folks who sure didn't hold back when asked was Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. In a discussion with the editorial board of the Washington Times on Thursday, Rice called racism a 'birth defect' of America, and said that black Americans have loved the nation even when it didn't love us.
